Our Inclusion Policy

We welcome anyone on MAD Walkers Events, although priority on booked Events goes to paid-up members and some Events may be members-only.

In all the cases below, we ask that you discuss, not just send a notification of, your intentions to attend with the relevant Event Coordinator or the Event leader beforehand to check that the Event is suitable. You should make them aware of any factors that may limit your participation before the Event. If you just turn up on the day, the Event leader is within their remit as the Organiser to refuse your attendance on that particular Event at the meet point. Their decision is for the benefit of the whole group.

Dogs
We welcome dogs on our Events, as long as they are kept under control at all times, on a leash as and when appropriate. For taking dogs on trains, please refer to the relevant Train Operating Company's policy. For car walks, they must travel in their owner's car. It is highly unlikely that dogs will be able to travel on coaches for coach-based Events.

Children (17 years old or under)
We welcome children on our Events, although you must be accompanied by an adult holding parental responsibility. We are not trained or qualified child-minders, and the responsible adult remains responsible at all times for the child while on the group walk.

Physical, sensory and/or mental impairments
We welcome people with physical, sensory and/or mental impairments, although if you are helped by a care-provider or support-giver in everyday life, we need you to be accompanied by such a person on our Events.

Should you feel that any decision regarding your attendance is unjust, please contact the Committee where the decision will be reviewed, as this policy has been agreed on behalf of the whole group and is not due to any one individual. It is hence unfair to take an aggressive attitude when Event leaders are upholding Group policy.
