A Well Baked Tart Walk

Direct Transport based walk with Andy Buckley.

9.2 mi

437m

Okay, the title of the walk has nothing whatsoever to do with the walk itself, I just wanted to get the word tart in the title somewhere due to the fact the walk is in Bakewell.

The meeting point is at the town centre car park, from here we will head up to the Monsal Trail and proceed along the old railway track bed for quite a while, this section of the walk is easy going and we pass through Headstone Tunnel and then up to the view point at Monsal Head.

From here we had back down to the Monsal Trail and across the Headstne viaduct before cutting down ito the valley and headin along the river bank through Monsal Dale and then up to Great Shacklow Wood where we follow the ridge line into the pituresque village of Ashford in the Water before heading back into Bakewell.
