To complete the set of three peaks we do the highest - Whernside, starting from Ribblehead.

We will pass the famous Ribblehead Viaduct before heading along the valley to climb Whernside itself, before heading along the ridge and returning back up the valley to Ribblehead.

Travel:

BY TRAIN - 0803 from Manchester Victoria to Blackburn, change at Blackburn for 0927 to Ribblehead (train destination is Appleby) - Ticket is Settle and Carlisle Ranger at £15. Return train is at 1922.

Train also calls at Saltord Crescent on outbound (08.07) and return journeys (arriving 21.51), also at Bolton (outbound 08.19, return arriving 21.37)

BY CAR - Suggested route is M60 to J18 for M66, M66 then A56 to M65, then M65 to J13 for A682 to Kendal/Nelson, A682 through Gisburn then left onto A65 near Long Preston, B6479 past Horton in Ribblesdale and then left onto B6255 to Ribblehead Station.

Walk start postocde is LA6 3AS.

Walk estimated to end by 1730. Drinks at the Station Inn after the walk.
