Starting from Congleton the walk gains the Macclesfield Canal out of Congleton and down a track and through fields to Astbury and through more fields to a lane and back onto the canal at Watery Lane Aqueduct and onto Acker's Crossing. The walk climbs the only major ascent of the day up to Mow Cop with great views. Congleton edge is walked along back to the edge of Congleton and onto a cycle path to the canal heading left back to Congleton station
