A walk out of Burnley past the Historic residence of the Townley Family over the top of Hoof Stones Height (479m) with views of Pendle Hill and Stoodley Pike (on a good day!) before finally dropping down into Heptonstall where the remains of the old abbey lie and the grave of Sylvia Plath.

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

09:50: Meet at Manchester Victoria for the train at 10:08. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Return to Burnley Via Hebden Bridge, £13.00 or 2 can travel on a duo for £19.00

Train also stops @ Moston, Mills Hill, Castleton, Rochdale, Smithy Bridge, Littleborough & Todmorden, 

10:08: Train departs for the walk start at Burnley Manchester Road Station.

11:40: Walk starts at Burnley Manchester Road Station.

Return from Hebden Bridge Station. xx:45 until 20:45

Waypoints: Townley hall, Hoof Stones Height, Heptonstall and Hebden Bridge.


PLEASE BRING A TORCH. Check your batteries. Use the toilets on the train as there aren't any at the walk start!

If you wish to drive to this walk, park at Hebden Bridge and join us on the 11:19 to Burnley Manchester Road.
