Public Transport based walk with Sarah Peppiatt.
A far less strenuous walk than this morning, on a varied walk from Broadbottom to Stalybridge where those so inclined can sample the nightlife... Expect some wet paths in places & a long ascent The pace will be slower than the morning though!
Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport
We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.

Rail ranger £5.20 or if coming in from further afield Wayfarer £12
12:46: Train departs for the walk start at Broadbottom Station.
13:10: Walk starts at Broadbottom Station.
Return from Stalybridge Station. Frequent until late, aiming for 16:15
Waypoints: Coach Road, Hollingworth Moor, Stalybridge
Walk leader meeting at walk start. As this is part 2 of a 2 part walk please hang on a bit if the leader isn't there bang on time
Suggest eat lunch on the train: there will be breaks but not a lunch stop.
Neither walk is car suitable without some difficulty retrieving the car. If must drive park in Manchester and join the group at Piccadilly for either walk.
Expect wet conditions: although a moderate walk it goes up to 400m so you must be properly equipped for winter walking including walking boots and waterproof clothing. Gaiters may be useful
Final part is down a road so we should be OK for daylight but torch would be useful - just in case!
Ex Map 1. Total distance for the two walks: 19 miles and over 1000m ascent(!)
