A moorland view from an edge or two

Walk leader to meet at walk start (Newhey Tram stop)

Where steps began the journey but views slowed the pace.  Where nature trumped progress with an unspoiled grace.  Where panaromas stole my breath; not the sting of the cold, a boundary awaits where history was told. Where dinner's Stone was a throne upon which I fed; it offered a place with space to clear my head.  Where his last orders remain last and their memory is maintained; my memory of this walk shall remain engrained.

I really enjoyed this route, with it's great expanse of colour, line and shape, mix of ridges, reservoirs and woodland sections but there is a lot of open moorland where you'll be exposed to the elements so please bring hat/gloves etc.  Paths are good but there are plenty of muddy sections so gaitors or waterproofs are recommended.

At nearly 1000 metres of ascent there is a lot of up and down with two climbs of note in the second part of the route.  This walk has NO bailout points.

Start time may be a couple of minutes either side of 10.15 as it depends on the trams running to time.   The walk should take 7 - 7.5 hours to complete.  Travel time back to Victoria is around 35 minutes.
