Direct Transport based walk with Anthony Helm.
A re-run of one of my favourite MAD walks since joining the group. Not originally lead by me, clue is in the title. Memorable for some lovely and varied Lake District scenery. The walk starts with an ascent up the side of Place Fell, for some great views of the surrounding hills. We then drop gradually down through a valley following Boredale Beck until we reach the lakeside near where the Ullswater Steamers dock. We then follow an undullating path back along the lakeside to Side Farm, which has a cafe for a well deserved ice cream! If there is enough interest on the day, we may stop for a bite to eat at a pub on the way home.
