Public Transport based walk suitable for new walkers, with Bayda'a Nasralla.

8.7 mi

120m

Weather warning: heavy showers, so waterproofs and gaiters will come in handy!

Part 1 of the Sandstone Trail series. Starting at Frodsham train station, we walk out of the town and straight up a steep ascent to join the start of the Sandstone Trail. As we reach the memorial we continue along a sandstone ridge around Overton hill. Following the trail through the undulating countryside. Passing through a garden where walkers can purchase tea, coffee and bacon butties from a local who has embraced the trail going through his garden!

With a short walk along Dark Ark Lane we go through Manley and head into the beautiful green landscape of Delamere Forest. As the trail continues south, we will depart it at this point and follow the Baker Way to the train station, passing Delamere Forest's rest area for toilet breaks, ice cream and a hot beverage (or a pint at the nearby pub) before going to catch the train home.
