Public Transport based walk with Andrew Forbes.
The first part of a two part hike; enabling people to exit at Whaley Bridge or continue on for the second part and return to Buxton for the full route. The only climb of the day is completed early on, as we walk through the golf course. There is a boggy section afterwards so gaiters would be helpful then its onto the Errwood and Fernilee reservoirs via the Shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It's an easy, level walk alongside the reservoirs, which continues as we follow the River Goyt through open fields and woodland paths; taking us into Whaley Bridge for a quick drink near the railway for those heading back to Manchester, whilst we wait for those joining us on the second part of the walk. Although this isn't a challenging walk, we will need to make sure we get into Whaley Bridge in time for the second group arriving.
