Public Transport based walk with Steve Rawlins.
Bit of a last minute thrown together walk but a good one
We'll start at Hadfield, well known for being a local place for local people so we'll head out of the village pretty sharpish picking up the Longdendale Trail until we drop down to Bottoms Reservoir before passing both the Valehouse and Rhodeswood Reservoirs.
Just before we get to Torside Reservoir we'll come off the shoreline path and join the Pennine Way (PW) and have a little/big climb up Clough Edge and keeping on the PW until reaching Bleaklow Head. Shortly after we'll come off the PW and head towards the Hern Stones (if you like big pretty rocks these may get you excited) and then we'll head off piste for a bit (bog divers paradise) until we reach the big Superfortress Air Crash site which is pretty cool if you haven't seen it before, a tad boring if you have...
More pretty rocks and a good view from the Higher Stones and then we'll pick up the route over the Lower Shelf Stones and down into Glossop and naturally into the pub.
Oh and look out for Mountain Hares, normally see a few..
Most of the walk is on decent path but there is a slightly boggy bit for a few hundred metres so gaitors/waterproofs advised.
Plenty of parking is available in both Hadfield and Glossop (although it's free in Hadfield) incase you are driving..the start and finish are just one stop away from each other on the train.
