A Cross from Strines

Public Transport based walk with Katherine Hamlett & Stu Edwards.

8.6 mi

One of our favourite routes home... Climbing out of Strines station we immediately make the most of the spectacular views across towards Whaley Moor. Good paths and gradual ascent take us to the vantage point of Mellor Cross with, weather permitting, a fantastic aspect of the surrounding countryside. We continue on the high ground to lunch with a view before working our way through the rural villages en route to the stunning aqueduct and the gentle canal path home. We'll round off the day with a drink in one of our local pubs!
