Along the Edge (and maybe to Rusholme?)

Public Transport based walk suitable for new walkers, with Anthony Helm.

7.6 mi

175m

A fairly easy linear walk from Alderley Edge to Wilmslow. From the station we head up to the viewpoint at "The Edge." We then head through some woodland and farmland, towards the golf course at Mottram Hall. We then follow the river Bollin back to Wilmslow. Nothing too strenuous but it may be muddy in parts, this is the Cheshire countryside in January! We will be sticking to defined footpaths wherever possible. When we arrive at Wilmslow, rather than the usual pub stop, we will take the train back to Manchester for some light refreshment time permitting, then a short bus ride to Rusholme for a meal in one of curry miles' Indian restaurants. The meal is of course optional and I will be taking a show of hands at the beginning of the walk, to forewarn the restaurant of numbers for a 6pm booking.
