A decent length walk taking us on various national footpaths in the Peak District and incorporating a lunch and pub stop at Holmfirth (aka Last of the Summer Wine town hence the title).

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

10:10: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 10:27. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Return to Brockholes £12.80 (note change at Huddersfield)

10:27: Train departs for the walk start at Brockholes Station.

11:30: Walk starts at Brockholes Station.

Return from Marsden Station. From Marsden xx:43 past the hour.

Waypoints: Brockholes station, Hamlets Walk, A635, Hills & Hamlets Walk, A6024, HVC Walk, Digley Reservoir, Greaves Head, Nether Lane, Kirklees Way, Pennine Way, Kirklees Way, Marsden.

Extra:

Toilets are available on the train. It is likely that we will be getting the 16:43 or the 17:43 train back. Also depending on demand planning to stop in Stalybridge on the way back for a trip to the Buffet bar. If you are planning to drive, please contact the walk leader - jwbuckland@hotmail.com.
