Public Transport based walk with John Ireland.

A wintry coastal walk, over Arnside Knott, and then back along the clifftops and down onto the beach round Park Point to Arnside.

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

10:00: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 10:16. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Return to Arnside £20.90, Train at Piccadilly is 1016 to Edinburgh, Change at Lancaster for 1128 to Arnside.

10:16: Train departs for the walk start at Arnside Station.

12:00: Walk starts at Arnside Station.

Return from Arnside Station. 17:58, 18:43, 19:58

Waypoints: Dobshall Road, Arnside Knott, Hare Parrock, Far Arnside, Park Point, Arnside Point, Blackstone Point, New Barns, Arnside


Lunch on Arnside Knott, if the weather's good we'll walk back to Arnside along the beach. If the weather is inclement then we'll take an alternate route that goes slightly more inland and is more sheltered.

Car travel options - Take the M6 to Jn 35, then A601(M), A6 to Milthorpe, turning left onto B5282 at Milthorpe which will then take you to Arnside. Allow 2 hours for journey.
