The Mottram Moor Mystery

Public Transport based walk with Stu Edwards & Katherine Hamlett.

9.8 mi

320m

A relaxing Saturday walk of mystery and intrigue, combined with vivid autumnal scenery! Departing Broadbottom Station we initially head North East, making towards the edge of Mottram Village. Passing Mottram Old Hall, we soon begin our gradual climb on to the moors...perhaps to an eerie sound...perhaps with the company of a distant, shadowy figure... Reaching the spectacular summit of Wild Bank Hill, fantastic views await you of the Manchester Skyline and the Dark Peak hills and moors. Descending Hollingworth Hall Moor, with the impressive views of four reservoirs nestled below, we soon arrive at Stalybridge Country Park. After a pause to admire the views, it's onwards to the village of Millbrook and the meandering tow path of the Huddersfield Canal. A well earned pint at the infamous Stalybridge Buffet Bar rounds off the day...... or will you be swapping tales of what you saw, on Mottram Moor....??
