A walk in the Loweswater Fells

A pleasant walk in the North-Western Lakes, going over Gavel Fell, Blake Fell and Burnbank Fell above Loweswater. This walk over three quiet hills with high passes between will be around 7 miles with 500m of up and down. We'll leave Manchester at 9, aiming to start walking around 11:30 and be back in Manchester by around 6. For those that might be interested, all three are indeed Wainwrights (and the leaders 201st, 202nd and 203rd!

Meet & Travel arrangements - Car Sharing

For car share walks, we meet at a convenient Manchester location and drive to the walk start using as few cars as possible. This keeps fuel costs and emissions down. Passengers please remember to contribute towards fuel costs at the end of the day.

09:00: Meet at Ferguson House, Blackfriars Road, Salford, M3 7AG for lift share organising.

09:05: Cars will leave for the walk start (Maggie's Bridge car park, Loweswater).

11:45: Walk starts at Maggie's Bridge car park, Loweswater.

If you are driving, please make every effort to attend the Ferguson House, Blackfriars Road, Salford, M3 7AG meet point as some people may depend on a lift to get to the walk start. For further information, email walks@madwalkers.org.uk, especially if you intend to drive there directly.

Waypoints: Maggie's Bridge, High Nook Farm, Whiteoak Beck, Whiteoak Moss, Gavel Fell, Blake Fell, Burnbank Fell, Holme Wood, Watergate Farm, Maggie's Bridge.

Facilities:

None at walk start. Nearest in Loweswater village, which we may visit post-walk. Use either Westmorland Farm Shop between junctions 38 and 39 on the M6 or Rheged shortly after joining the A66 at Junction 40.
