Keswick Weekend BBW 2014: Hope To See You On The Pike

Car based walk with Andy Buckley.

8.0 mi

A circular walk starts with a gradual climb through Coledale Valley along a dirt track before into a rocky path with a magnificant view of Force Crag and its waterfall, we continue along the path which takes us up to Coledale Hause. From here we head over the moorland to Hopegill Head and then onto Grisedale Pike. At these two high points (hopefully!!) we will have stunning views across The Lakes. On leaving Grisedale Pike it is a steep rocky descent before turning into open moorland and our final descent back to the car park.

For those people interested this walk takes in two Wainwrights: Hopegill Head and Grisedale Pike. Wainwright descibed Grisedale Pike as " a graceful peak piercing the western sky".

I will be travelling up on the Friday and spending the weekend there to do the Sunday walk as well.

All you need to sort out is you own transport and accomodation, there are plenty of B&B's and hotels in Keswick. MAD have been able to organise pleasant bunkhouse located at Hawse End - between Cat Bells and Derwent Water - which is a short lakeside walk (or launch ride!!) from Keswick - see Weekends Page for more details.
