Public Transport based walk with Andrew Forbes.
This circular walk starts and finishes at Entwistle train station, beside the Strawberry Duck pub, where we'll have drinks and food at the end for those that want it. It is a mix of clear paths, bridleways, open field, woodland areas and open moors. Some sections on the moors have poorly visible paths over uneven ground and were boggy when reccied so sturdy footwear is required. Gaiters or waterproofs would be a good idea. The moorland section is open to the elements and even on a sunny day may be cold if there is wind so extra layers should be brought just in case.
The walk has four distinct ascents, with the highest being up to the stone circle and trig point at Cheetham Close. We'll finish with an easy, flat 2 mile walk around Turton & Entwistle Reservoir, bringing us back to the train station and the Strawberry Duck pub. Sunday lunch is available until 8pm. I'll have a menu with me and will phone in the order part way through the route. Go to www.thestrawberryduck.co.uk for an idea of what is typically available.
Due to lack of shelter for long periods; lunch/snack stops will be kept short, particularly if the day is cold/wet.
