Public Transport based walk with Colin Shaw.
This walk is part of the "10 Years, 10 Marathons" series celebrating the anniversary of MAD Walkers. It follows the recommended route for the first stages of the Bullock Smithy Hike as far as Peak Forest, so this is a good opportunity to practice if you're thinking of taking that challenge. We will have to keep up a fairly fast pace in order to complete the route in time to catch the planned return train. However there are two opportunities to bail out early, one at Furness Vale station - roughly 9 miles in - and the second at Edale station after 18.5 miles; So if you've been thinking about doing one of the marathon-length walks, you can try this one without having to worry too much about not being able to keep up for the full distance. Bring plenty of food and water!
