Public Transport based walk with Sarah Peppiatt.
A deceptively gentle start to the day as we follow the canal up to Diggle. From Diggle we climb steadily up to Brun Clough Reservoir where we pick up the Pennine Way and follow it over open moorland to drop down to the Wessenden reservoirs. A long steady climb up to Black Hill (first trig) and Laddow Rocks then follows, over exposed and potentially very wet ground. We then leave the Pennine Way behind to cross west over to Chew Reservoir before following a clear trail to Alphin Trig, with fantastic views over the Greenfield area. Finally we drop down to the Pennine Bridleway for a short return to the station.
