Car based walk with Andrew Forbes.
Please note that due to high interest in the last joint walk in Yorkshire, I have to limit the numbers for MAD to 20 - 25 to keep combined numbers manageable. Booking on via email@example.com is therefore essential. Please let me know if you intend to do one peak (and which one) or both.
Building on from the earlier jaunt over to Yorkshire 3 peak territory, this walk returns to Pen-y-ghent (peak 1) but also includes Ingleborough (peak 3). There is a bail out/join in point at 6 miles.
If the weather is on our side, we'll be treated to some truly cracking views while we get our breath back, particularly when heading up Ingleborough.
The Pen-y-ghent section is the shorter of the two at just under 6 miles. It's a steeper ascent than Ingleborough but not as long. Paths are clear with the potential for short muddy sections and a small amount of scrambling near the top. PLEASE NOTE We'll need to be up and down again in 2 hours to give us time to have lunch and meet up in Horton in Ribblesdale with anyone joining us for the second section. This means a steady pace (not crazy fast though) with short but regular breaks for snacks and fluids.
We start the Ingleborough section from the same point as section 1 (the Pen-y-ghent cafe) around 12.30pm. Ingleborough, at just over 11 miles is the longer of the two. The route up is the one that most people come down on and whilst the ascent is gentler it is longer. Walking conditions are on clear paths but some sections will be muddy if recent rainfall. Stony sections need care on the way down again.
The full walk is likely to take around 7.5 - 8 hours and I'll aim to get back to Horton in Ribblesdale by 5.30 - 6pm to give people plenty of time to get home. PLEASE NOTE If you intend to do only one of the peaks then you are responsible for arranging your own transport to the walk start or home again.
