Public Transport based walk with Andrew Forbes.
The first mile out of the station is through the pretty streets of Buxton before starting out over the open and skirting round woodland to the eerily quiet health & safety laboratory buildings around Turncliffe. Then it's over the unpathed open moorland of Leap Edge before the first of several short road sections. We'll stop for lunch at the pretty wee waterfalls at Three Shire Heads. A steep bridleway takes us up to an A road that has a verge but no pavement and care must be taken here. Clear bridleways and again short sections of road walking take us towards/eventually through Macclesfield Forest. We'll stop for snacks and drinks at Tegg's Nose in Tegg's Nose Country Park before starting the ascent down into Macclesfield. This will have the final part of the road walking and again short elements have no pavement so care must be taken.
It's going to be a long walk at a reasonably brisk pace so make sure you have waterproofs and enough food and fluids to get you through the day
