Public Transport based walk with Andy Buckley.
A circular walk folowing decent paths from Newhey over to the shores of Hollingworth Lake via the M62 viaduct, where with time permitting coffee and ice cream could be purchased before heading off along the Pennine Bridleway to skirt around the edge of Tower Hill and the south shores of Ogden Reservoir and then back to Newhey tram stop for our journeys home to get ready for the Christmas party.
Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport
We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.

10:45: Meet at Manchester Victoria for the train at 11:00. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.
£4.40 return. Bought from the tram plaftorm.
Please note, if you are travelling from any other Metrolink station and will then be going home to get ready for the Christmas Party and then returning to the city by the Metrolink it will be cheaper for you to get the Day Ticket (£4.90) which will cover you for your entire days journey.
11:00: Train departs for the walk start at Newhey Tram Station.
11:30: Walk starts at Newhey Tram Station.
Return from Shaw & Crompton Tram Station. 15:00ish and every 12 minutes
Waypoints: Newfield Head, Tunshill Lane, Castle Hill, Hollingworth Lake, Rakewood, Pennine Bridleway, Town Hill, Ogden Reservoir, Barnards
Please note that this is now a circular walk and will return from Newhey. Although this has been programmed into the database for some reason on the website it is still showing the return to be from Shaw & Crompton.
