Public Transport based walk with Sarah Peppiatt.
With the clocks changing next week it's nearly too late for the long walks. So one last long one, with an early start and a brisk pace to make sure we finish before dark!
Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport
We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.
08:15: Meet at Manchester Victoria for the train at 08:27. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.
Suggested ticket:
Return to Greenfield (£4.10)
08:27: Train departs for the walk start at Greenfield Station.
08:50: Walk starts at Greenfield Station.
Return from Greenfield Station. x:50 (aiming for 18:50)
Waypoints: Huddersfield Canal; Alphin Trig; Chew Reservoir; Black Hill; Featherbed Moss; Broadstones Syke; Obelisk; Dovestones Reservoir; Intake Lane; Greenfield Station
Extra Note:
This is a long walk with no easy bailouts. It'll need to be done fast to finish in the light so please be sure you're capable of the distance before coming out.
Gaiters would be an advantage because the ground is very soggy in places and some of the walk is off path (note if the weather is really wet we'll do an alternative of similar distance from same start).
Bring a torch just in case we miss the target time.
