Car based walk with Arthur Embleton.
Due to current hot weather please bring plenty of water with you.
Starting off at the New Dungeon Ghyll car park we will climb up onto the ridge at Bowfell and cross over Esk Pike and Broad Crag before reaching Scafell Pike. We will then retrace some of our route before dropping down and joing the Cumbria Way back to the car park.
If this fantastic weather holds up throughout the weekend then this walk will give us stunning views over the Lake District. New Dungeon Ghyll has a pub with some great ale for those not driving.
We will meet at Ferguson House car park in Salford at 8.45am with the aim to get to New Dungeon Ghyll for 11am. The aim is to complete the walk by 5pm and return to Manchester (after a rest in the pub) for approximatelly 8pm.
I reserve the right to skip Scafell Pike if we're walking slower than expected as it is quite a late finish for most of us on a Sunday.
Parking will be around £6 plus fuel cost will be around £20. By car sharing, we should be able to make this more reasonable.
Bring a packed lunch, suncream and plenty of water.
Meet & Travel arrangements - Car Sharing
For car share walks, we meet at a convenient Manchester location and drive to the walk start using as few cars as possible. This keeps fuel costs and emissions down. Passengers please remember to contribute towards fuel costs at the end of the day.
