An easy-paced linear walk from Bury to Ramsbottom via Affetside, taking in a Roman Road and passing by a the Krypton Factor Assault Course.
On arrival at Ramsbottom you can sample the delights of this up and coming gastronomic destination - namely the Chocolate Cafe and the Irwell Works Brewery before returning back to Bury on a Steam Train.

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.

09:15: Meet at Manchester Victoria for the train at 09:30. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.
Return Metrolink Ticket - Bury to Victoria £4.10
East Lancs Railway Single Ramsbottom to Bury £5
Note - ELR Concessionary Fare (£4.50) available if you bring your Ramblers membership card with you!
09:30: Train departs for the walk start at Bury Interchange.
10:15: Walk starts at Bury Interchange.
Return from Ramsbottom Station. 16:25, 17:10
Waypoints: Bury, Elton, Walshaw, Affetside, Hawkshaw, Holcombe Training Camp, Holcombe Village, Ramsbottom.
Return from Ramsbottom to Bury is via East Lancashire Railway steam train. Car parking available in Bury should you wish to drive to the start point. Pub and lunch stop in Affetside. 471 and 524 bus services run from Bolton to Bury as well, 471 also runs to Bury from Rochdale.
Toilets at walk start (20p charge), finishing in the Trackside Bar in Bury for a drink or two.
