Car based walk with Rebecca Lea.
Take in the cultcha with some sculpture! A lovely walk through the lovely rolling countryside from the Yorkshire Sculpture park south of Wakefield (yet just an hour’s drive from Manchester!) The walk will take in Cawthorne Park, Cannon Hall Country Park, and the village of Skelmanthorpe.
Meet & Travel arrangements - Car Sharing
For car share walks, we meet at a convenient Manchester location and drive to the walk start using as few cars as possible. This keeps fuel costs and emissions down. Passengers please remember to contribute towards fuel costs at the end of the day.
Itinerary is below - click links for map and further information.
09:00: Meet at Deansgate Locks for lift share organising.
09:10: Cars will leave for the walk start (West Bretton, Village Hall Carpark).
10:30: Walk starts at West Bretton, Village Hall Carpark.
If you are driving, please make every effort to attend the Deansgate Locks meet point as some people may depend on a lift to get to the walk start. For further information, email email@example.com, especially if you intend to drive there directly.
There are toilets in the Sculpture Park fairly near the walk start. At the beginning of the walk we will take a slow ramble through the Park to take in the sculptures which will take approx 45 mins – 1 hour depending on how much time people want to take. Current exhibitions include work from artists such as Emily Speed, Jaume Plensa, Martin Creed and Eva Rothschild. There will be a pub stop towards the end of the walk.
