Disley to Chapel: the long way round

A long and very varied valk with a lot of ascent that heads south from Disley over several of Cheshire's high points before heading east via Macclesfield Forest and the Goyt Valley to Castle Naze, finishing at Chapel en le frith.

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.

07:45: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 07:52. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Either return to Chapel-en-le-frith (£9.60) or if you're travelling into Piccadilly within the Greater Manchester area a Wayfarer (£11) may be cheaper (needs purchasing in advance)

07:52: Train departs for the walk start at Disley Station.

08:20: Walk starts at Disley Station.

Return from Chapel-en-le-Frith Railway Station. X:38 aiming for 19:38

Extra note:

This is a long walk with a lot of climbing and no easy bailout points unless you can navigate yourself to an alternative finish. Please be sure you can complete the walk at a reasonable pace before coming on it.
