Public Transport based walk suitable for new walkers, with Mags Fenton and Volker Funke.
***Walk leaders will get on the train at Altrincham***
This walk is a great opportunity to combine walking through the beautiful Cheshire countryside with visiting a unique monument of the Industrial Revolution. We are first heading to the picturesque village of Great Budworth for our lunch break, where you can have a drink in the listed George and Dragon pub, explore the medieval church or have an ice-cream at the nearby ice-cream farm. The walk then continues across green fields with fine views over Budworth Mere to Anderton Boat Lift. We will have time to see the lift in operation, visit the cafe and view the exhibition about the boat lift. The final part of the walk leads us back along the Trent & Mersey Canal to Northwich, where you can join us for a drink or go straight back to the train station.
We are planning to go for a curry afterwards at http://www.theindiannorthwich.co.uk. Since the restaurant is very popular, we need to book a table in advance. If you would like to join us, please email email@example.com by Thursday, 16th May.
