Car based walk with Andy Buckley & Jon Buckland.
****WALK LEADERS TO MEET AT WALK START****
This walk starts from the large Rydal Rd car park at the North end of Ambleside (facilities available). This is one of the most spectacular high level ridge walks in The Lakes. We leave Ambleside and walk through the beautiful grounds of Rydal Hall before we start the main section of ascent, there will be plenty of breaks during this time. Once we get up onto the ridge you will realise that the ascent was worth it as on a clear day with good views of the rest of the lakes and the biggest lake of them all (actually it is the sea!) The ridge walk itself is undulating throughout. On the return leg of the horseshoe the descent is pretty steep in places but the sense of acheivement you have once you look back and seen what you have just done is exhilarating. Once back in Ambleside we will be visiting The Unicorn Pub for a drink or two. For those Wainwright geeks among us ( for which I freely admit I am one) there are seven Wainwrights in this walk.
Meet & Travel arrangements - Car Sharing
For car share walks, we meet at a convenient Manchester location and drive to the walk start using as few cars as possible. This keeps fuel costs and emissions down. Passengers please remember to contribute towards fuel costs at the end of the day.
