Crowden Scramble AKA The Gates

Public Transport based scramble with David Bratley.

10.0 mi

670m

Due to weather in March the scramble never took place, and due to the high level of interest shown I've decided to re-run again.

This walk holds some true variety. Starting with an easy Grade 1 section of clambering / scrambling up Crowden Clough, to a steeper Grade 1 section towards the top of the clough, beyond this is an optional Grade 2 section. The vast majority of the scramble up Crowden is in the stream bed. After this we head for Kinder downfall and another wettish section up the River Kinder to the Gates! Then over (through) an extremely boggy section which leads us back to the top of Crowden clough. Now we move along the southern edge of Kinder Plateau eastwards to Grindsbrook Clough for an easy Grade 1 scramble back down to Edale.
