A linear winter walk to Whaley Bridge which much scope for merriment along the way!

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

09:30: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 09:52. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Chapel-en-le-Frith Return £9.20

09:52: Train departs for the walk start at Chapel-en-le-Frith Railway Station.

10:40: Walk starts at Chapel-en-le-Frith Railway Station.

Return from Whaley Bridge Station. 1646, 1744, 1846.

Waypoints: Combs, Combs Reservoir, Tunstead Milton, Eccles Pike, Bugsworth Basin, Peak Forest Canal


Given the festive nature of the season, we will be availing ourselves of several hostelries on route, notably the Navigation at Bugsworth andThe Goyt in Whaley.

We will then be returning to Manchester aiming to arrive in time for the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at Manchester Cathedral, with drinks in a local pub afterwards.
