A three-legged non race Part 2: Earth

Public Transport based walk with Stephen Smith.

Part 2 of today's three parter, with all the walk coming in the first third, with a gentle walk through the woods of Todmorden park rudely interupted by a sharp climb up to Todmoren Edge, then a drop back down to the valley and the sharp climb up to the Bride Stones and Stansfield Moor. From there, it's an easy walk back down the Colden Valley.

Whilst no-one who doesn't share genes with a mountain goat will be quick on the two climbs, we'll need to be brisk on the rest of the walk to make it back to Hebden for the third of the three walks of the day.

Housekeeping: Both Todmorden and Hebden Bridge stations have car parks and are on the same railway line should you wish to drive. Walk leader meeting at walk start (along with anyone from the first walk who's doing the second as well). Neither the station nor the route have toilets, and we won't have time for people to tour the pubs of Tod to use those facilities, so please use those on the train if needed.

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

12:50: Meet at Manchester Victoria for the train at 12:56. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Please note, the suggested train runs from Kirkby to Blackburn, so won't be destined for Leeds as many Todmorden trains are.

You'll need a Hebden Bridge day return -  a snip at £10.20 - or if travelling from further afield the Rail Ranger (£6.80) and Littleborough - Hebden Bridge return (£4.60) might be better value

12:56: Train departs for the walk start at Todmorden Station.

13:30: Walk starts at Todmorden Station.

Return from Hebden Bridge Station. The 18:08, but there are three trains an hour back to Manchester

Waypoints: Todmorden Edge, Stannally Stones, Pole Hill, Land Farm, Hell Hole Rocks (OL21)
