A Three Ways Greenfield circular

Public Transport based walk with Siobhán Burke.

Walk leader will join at Mossley railway station

This Three Ways circular takes in the Tame Valley Way, Oldham Way and the Pennine Bridleway at various points. We start gently along the Tame Valley Way before ascending sharply to the top, via Oldham Way and reaching Broadstone Hill. We carry on across the top until we come to Ravenstone Brow, where there is an off-path and steep descent requiring the use of hands as well as feet. We head back up toward the Standedge Trail and join the Pennine Bridleway/Oldham Way at the height of the walk along Castleshaw Moor before dropping back down and past Castleshaw reservoirs. We continue down and briefly into the pretty little village of Delph before heading back toward Uppermill via Tame Valley Way again. At the historic Uppermill Viaduct and Brownhill Visitor Centre we finish the walk with a short stroll along the Huddersfield Canal and back into Greenfield for a well earned pint or two.

Walking boots are essential due to the steep descent and rough terrain. Gaiters are also highly recommended as the walk is very mucky and boggy in places. Please wear or bring sufficient layers as it will feel very cold along the top of the Moors. We will also need to keep a brisk pace due to the mileage and hours of daylight though we will go steady on the ascents.
