Esk Pike and Bow Fell

Direct Transport based walk with Anthony Helm.

Some awesome scenery in the Langdale pikes, from the barron rocks of the pikes to the picturesque valley on the way back. We start from the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub and take the Cumbria Way up past Angle Tarn and on to Esk Pike (885m). From there we traverse to Bow Fell (902m) before heading back down the valley past Whorneyside Force waterfall. The path is rocky towards the tops of the hills and there is some off path on the way down to the waterfall, so whilst by no means a scramble, a degree of surefootedness is required.
