The Hills Over Frodsham

Public Transport based walk with Andy Buckley.

A Circular walk taking in views over the Mersey Estuary and take in two iron age hill forts of Frodsham and Helsby hills. We will start the walk from Fordsham railway station and follow the woodland path around the foot of Frodsham hill before we climb up to the top of Helsby Hill where we we start our return journey back towards Frodsham with a further climb to reach the top of Frodsham Hill and the memorial. Then it will be off to one of many pubs there seems to be in Frodsham for a drink and a chat.

 

NOTE : Gaiters are recommended for this walk as some of the woodland footpaths could be quiet muddy.

DRIVERS: If you wish to drive to the walk start this is also an option as there is ample parking available in Frodsham. Please allow yourself suficient time to park and get to the walk start of Frodsham station.

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.

09:40: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 09:56. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Retrun to Frodsham: £12.50

09:56: Train departs for the walk start at Frodsham Railway Station.

10:40: Walk starts at Frodsham Railway Station.

Return from Frodsham Railway Station. 1549 and then hourly at **49

Waypoints: Netherton, North Cheshire Way, Tarvin Road, Helsby Hill, Alderhall, Sandstone Trail, Frodsham Hill.
