Along the Edge of Cheshire

Public Transport based walk suitable for new walkers, with Jonny Franklin.

This is my classic Cheshire walk starting in Congleton; to start the canal is followed for a short way, before heading across the fields to the pretty village of Astbury. After this, more fields are used to head back onto the canal into Ackers Crossing. From here the main ascent starts up to Mow Cop with its folly castle (lunch stop). From Mow Cop we follow paths and a road along Congleton Edge and down to the outskirts of town back onto the canal to finish at the station where the Queen Arms Inn awaits.

Please bring waterproofs and boots can be muddy underfoot. Also Please bring lunch with you
