Walk Leader meeting at Walk Start

A walk out of New Mills up to Hayfield following the Sett Valley Trail up to Lantern Pike, then down back along the valley through Thornsett and the nooks and crannies of New Mills via the odd interesting pub or two.

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

10:20: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 10:40. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Off-Peak Return to New Mills Central £7.70

10:40: Train departs for the walk start at New Mills Central Station.

11:15: Walk starts at New Mills Central Station.

Return from New Mills Central Station. 16:03, 17:03, 18:03

Waypoints: Sett Valley Trail, Hayfield, Little Hayfield, Blackshaw Farm, Lantern Pike, Birch Vale, Thornsett, New Mills.

Extra:

No toilets at walk start, use the ones on the train.

Car parking available at Torr Top car park (New Mills SK22 4BS) where parking is free on Sunday, should you wish to drive there. If driving, you should aim to be there by 11:00 to allow time to park and meet the train.

Post-walk refreshments at the Mason's Arms and then the Beer Shed (if we can all fit in!)
