Peak District Boundary Trail: the western bit

Public Transport based walk with Sarah Peppiatt.

17.0 mi

1057m

Following on from November's walk along the first stretch of the Peak District Boundary Trail here's another section of the route running up the western edge of the Peak District as far as Glossop. Got snow first time round so fingers crossed for a bit more this time round!

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

08:35: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 08:49. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Wayfarer ticket: £13

08:49: Train departs for the walk start at Dove Holes.

09:45: Walk starts at Dove Holes.

Return from Glossop Station. X:07 and X:37 unti late: aiming for 17:37

Waypoints: Barmoor Clough; Shireoaks; Hayfield; Lantern Pike: Coombe Rocks

Extra Note:

Ambitious walk for the time of the year so expect a brisk pace to complete the walk before dark. Also expect mud, awkward stiles and several stiff climbs/descents and come appropriately equipped. Bring a torch just in case please. Walk is mostly over exposed terrain so you'll need warm layers and good waterproofs.

NB: walk finishes on completely different train line so this is not a suitable walk to drive to.
