Public Transport based walk with Ravi.
A linear walk starting at Furness Vale and ending in Disley, for the Garden Party at The Ram's Head Inn.
From Furness Vale we take the scenic Peak Forest Canal to Whaley Bridge, heading then to Toddbrook Reservoir before beginning our first ascent of the day, up and over Whaley Moor. On a clear day we should be rewarded with extensive views of the Peak District. After a stretch of easy walking we head uphill again to the Bowstones, from there descending across moorland and then woods into Lyme Park. After that it's a loop through woodland and the park grounds, taking in the distinctive 'Cage' Tower before reaching Disley.
The post walk pub is the excellent Rams Head Inn, for their Summer Garden Party. The theme is Tiki (Hawaiian). Expect drinks offers and live music until late.
Given the late morning start, lunch may be a bit later also depending on pace (between 1.30 - 2pm), though we'll have a rest / snack stop beforehand.
There are no toilets at Furness Vale so please use the ones on the train.
Car drivers: Furness Vale and Disley are on the same train line. Parking is available at Disley station and so I would recommend joining the train there at 11:18.
