DIY weekend: the Black Mountains

Direct Transport based walk with Sarah Peppiatt.

25.0 mi

Right on the eastern edge of Wales is some fantastic walking country that has a very remote feel. The first walk of the weekend is a cracking long route over the eastern ridges north of Abergavenny as far as the Blacksmith's Anvil and returning back through pretty woodland and a last big climb over Sugar Loaf. This is a DIY weekend so the idea is you sort your own transport, accommodation etc out & I'll meet you there and lead the walk!

Meet & Travel arrangements - Direct

This is a walk with direct transport arrangements, meeting at the walk start.

08:00: Meet at the walk start (Abergavenny Tourist Information Centre)

08:00 Walk starts.

Waypoints: Deri, Garn Wen, Blacksmith's Anvil; Partrishow, Sugar Loaf

Extra note:

Long walk with a lot of ascent so make sure you're up to the whole route as there's no bailouts. You'll need sufficient food/water for a long day too & full walking gear including waterproofs and warm layers as it's exposed on the tops.

Lots of accommodation options in Abergavenny including camping, a bunkhouse near the station and B & Bs.

It'd be helpful to get an idea who's coming so we know to wait at the meetpoint: email sarahfpeppiatt@gmail.com or drop me a text on 07495411267
