Derwent Valley Way Part 2

Public Transport based walk with Sarah Peppiatt.

11.0 mi

An easier walk than the morning heading south along the River  Derwent as far as Bubell before returning over Curbar and Froggatt Edge. If the weather's kind the views back over the Peak District should be superb...

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

12:40: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 12:49. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

Suggested ticket:

Return to Grindleford £11.40 or Wayfarer £13 if travelling in.

12:49: Train departs for the walk start at Hathersage Station.

13:46: Walk starts at Hathersage Station.

Return from Grindleford Station. X:28 aiming for 19:28

Waypoints: River Derwent, Bubell, Curbar Edge, Froggatt Edge

Extra note:

While this is an easier walk than the morning and the pace will be more relaxed, it is also a late start. Consquently we do need to move at a reasonable pace if we're to catch trains. If you're new to the group or unsure of fitness you may do better to start with a walk that doesn't involve chasing trains....

You'll need enough food/fluid for the afternoon especially if it's hot. See warning above on previous walk about stingers/stiles and advisability of shorts.
