Public Transport based walk with Andrew Forbes.
Walk leader to meet the group at the walk start. Walk leader may be a few minutes late if the first part of the walk is slower than expected. Please wait at the station.
This walk varies between fields to woodland to open moorland to lovely valley views and back again. There are five climbs of note, all of which are steep and a couple are long but the views on the way up and again at the top are certainly worth it.
We will go through a few areas that are likely to have sheep, cows or horses so no dogs please. There are a couple of alternative routes if cows and/or calves are going to be a problem.
There is one area of open moorland that is particularly prone to being boggy so gaiters are a good idea. The paths on Kinder are good but rocky/uneven with one prolonged section like this from Edale Cross so sturdy walking boots are essential.
There will be a few short stops for food and liquids and a lunch stop on top of Kinder (sheltered if the weather is against us). Please bring enough food and fluids to last you through to the end of the walk however more can be bought before we leave Glossop if anyone needs to do so.
There is a bail out point roughly 8 miles in at the top of Jacob's Ladder however you must be able to make your own way to the train station at Edale if you take this option.
I will aim for the 8.03pm train back to Manchester but there are a couple of pubs near the station if we miss that one.
