Direct Transport based walk with Sarah Peppiatt.
A stunning long circuit from Chirk station, starting with an easy section up the canal to Trevor, before climbing out the valley on the Offa's Dyke path. We leave Offa's Dyke for a bit to follow the high ground, rejoining Offa's Dyke a few miles later. We then turn south along the Clywdian Way through pretty woodlands and drop down into Llangollen. A stiff climb brings us up on to the Llwybr Ceiriog way which we follow to Chirk Castle and then back to the station. Early start and late finish so it'll be a long day, but well worth it.

Transport arrangements. This is a direct transport walk: i.e. sort your own transport out. Can be done by train with an early start: 6.50 train from Manchester Picc to Chester and then 8:19 train from Chester to Chirk - £24.50. Other possibilities exist for getting there by public transport including trains from Stockport/Altrincham to Chester. If you are driving please be there in good time so the group is not waiting for you. Walk leader will be joining train at Warrington Bank Quay at 7.23 am.
Long walk with a lot of ascent: possibility of bailout at Llangollen (about half way) if you don't mind playing games with local buses/train connections. You will need sufficient food/fluid for the whole day. Parts of the walk are exposed so you will need appropriate gear for the weather. Proper walking boots are a must as some of the route is very rough.
Aiming to finish in time for the 18:48 train back to Chester (hourly trains until late).
