Public Transport based scramble with Tom Whitehead.
This walk involves a scramble up Crowden Clough at the beginning of the walk and thus is not suitable for new or very inexperienced hikers.
Th scramble up Crowden Clough to Kinder is an excellent introduction to scrambling. Tremendous fun, it involves frequent use of hands, mainly for balance but in one key place for scrambling over rocks a couple of metres high. Good quality gloves are thus essential.
The scramble being next to (an occasionally in) a shallow stream is not exposed and there are alternative hiking routes if neccessary. It also does not involve any significant heights.
The scramble should be within the limits of any reasonably experiened hiker, but please discuss with the walk leader via email@example.com if you are unsure. In particular no experience of climbing is needed and no ropes are used.
For the rest of the walk, we follow the edge of the Kinder Plateau westwards before heading over to Rushup Edge. We follow the Great Ridge, including the ancient hill fortof Mam Tor before descending to Edale.
There are exclennet views all day.
