The Dane Valley Way is a very pretty route that starts at Buxton and climbs over Axe Edge moor before following the River Dane west to Congleton. We follow the route as far as Gradbach before heading north over Shutlingsloe to Macclesfield

Meet & Travel arrangements - Public Transport

We’ll use public transport from Manchester to travel to and return from the walk start/end.
Itinerary is below - click station links for map and further information.

Suggested ticket:

Wayfarer ticket £12

08:49: Train departs for the walk start at Buxton Train Station.

09:40: Walk starts at Buxton Train Station.

Return from Macclesfield Station. Frequent, aiming for 18:01

Waypoints: Axe Edge, Gradbach, Shutlingsloe, Langley

Extra Note:

Bog on top: mud in the valleys and one exciting stream crossing so you'll need waterproof footwear and/or a change of socks.

This is a long and fairly strenuous walk with no bailouts, so please be sure you're capable of doing the whole route at a reasonable pace.

Bring sufficient food/water for the day. The walk is very exposed in places so you must have waterproofs and warm layers with you.
