Poynton to Adlington

Public Transport based walk suitable for new walkers, with Jonny Franklin.

Starting at Poynton to avoid roads the first part links round to Poynton lake and up into the fields behind and up to Higher Poynto to join the Macclesfield Canal for a short way and along a track into Lyme Park for a climb up to Bowstone Gate and Sponds Hill (highest point) and lunch stop possiblly. Descending down to a road and onto the Gritstone Trail to Berristall Hall and Pott Shrigley. The route leads down a road and down through woods passing Styperson Pool and through a farm and fields to reach Adlington with a pub stop. Please bring waterproofs. Can park at Poynton as Adlington is on the same trainline.

09:30: Meet at Manchester Piccadilly for the train at 09:46. You will need to purchase a ticket prior to meeting.

09:46: Train departs for the walk start at Poynton Station.

10:10: Walk starts at Poynton Station.
