Public Transport based walk suitable for new walkers, with Stu Edwards & Katherine Hamlett.
Overlooking the towns of Horwich and Blackrod is the unmistakeable pike at Rivington, gatekeeper to the vast expanse of the West Pennine Moors. For those who enjoy a varied walk, this route is a great opportunity to explore the sights and history of Lord Leverhulme's Estate, which even includes a little known castle. With good terrain underfoot and a steady ascent you will be able to take in the fantastic views from this Lancashire vantage point. After surveying all before us we will make our way down for a well-earned tipple at the ideally located pub!
