Chinley to Edale (no pun intended)

Public Transport based walk with Tom Whitehead.

10.7 mi

688m

An invigorating moorland walk with excellent views. Starting at Chinley station we ascend to the moors around Cracken edge. We head towards (possibly) more familiar territory near Kinder via Brown Knoll. We head north on the Pennine Way for an extremely short section before detouring to the 'summit' of Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District. We head back to the southern edge of the Kinder Plateau before descending into Edale via Grindsbrook Clough.

Gaiters advisable. This walk will almost certainly be boggy, muddy, peaty and wet. A hot flask is also recommended.
